Text 30 May Dublin->Madrid->Salamanca I

As we arrived to Dublin airport I expected to enjoy my layover by looking through the airport as I wish I had a longer layover to go out and visit Dublin. However my airline had other plans. Obviously Aer Lingus had not thought out that half of the airplane had layovers to the continental Europe. The line for security to the next flight must have been close to 100 people from my first flight from JFK. As I finished security my flight was already boarding at the other end of the terminal. So Dublin to me was a wonderful blurr of me running through the airport to catch my flight from Dublin to Madrid.

By the time I got on the plane at Dublin I had almost been awake the entire night as my flight to leave dublin as around 6AM and a 3.5 hour flight to Madrid. I actually was able to sleep on this plane ride, since most of the people on the plane were either heading to studying in Spain or Spanish themselves. On the flight itinerary I was except to Arrive at the airport around 10 the second latest flight arrival time. I was hoping for my baggage not to be lost through the airline since i didn’t bring any cloths in my carry on. I waited and waited but for some unknown reason the airport belts were obvious crappy and broke and my luggage was randomly on another belt. Silly Spaniards.
I had no idea where i was going after i picked up my luggage so I headed out hoping it was the right way since everything is sooooo organized for this trip. I was met soon after by my professor of the trip Georgina. She asked me “how are the others” I had no idea what she was talking about since she was the first person i knew since leaving the US. Meeting at the airport was a complete bumblefuck no one had any idea what was going on.
We were told previous to leaving the US that this part of spain didn’t rain during the month of June, well obviously someone got their facts mixed up since it was a complete downpour while trying to get to our bus. Oh about the bus…someone also didn’t calculate the peoples luggage size to the bus size since not all the luggage fit in the first bus we had to wait for the second. It rained so much in such a short time the airports floor became flooded with water while we were eating lunch.

Text 29 May JFK->Dublin

I convinced my mother to drive me to the airport located in Jamaica New York. The trip was quite interesting and rather expressive to drive through New York with flat rate tolls out the ass. We stopped for lunch but I didn’t eat much based on my high level of nervousness for not only my first flight but it also being an International one. The time I spent waiting in the airport went by rather smoothly and I took notice that Ironically all the Irish men waiting to board Aer Lingus with me to Dublin all smelled like Irish Springs. I thought that’d be a misconception but I guess they really do smell of Irish Spring, must remind them of their home land. I can’t bare to imagine what the fragrance of America would smell of…French Fries and Burgers perhaps? I picked my own seat for this 6 hour flight from 6pm EST to 5AM Dublin time. I can’t quiet get the major time zone difference so I just except it and move on.
With my luck I get the most annoying people to sit around me during this lovely 6 hour flight in the air. To my direct left I had some weird older man who persistently elbowed me in the side while hugging the arm rest like it had his name one it. and to my right was the most annoying family who decided to bring a hoagie and never shut up during the flight. I had brought Dramamine to help with motion sickness but of course left it in my bag in the over head bin which was marginally off limits to me as we hit turbulence 70% of the flight.  While the turbulence was annoying nothing compared to when i would try to sleep the flight attendance would constantly hit me as they attempted to sell Aer Lingus products on board. I literarily counted down the minutes until arrival at Dublin so I could get away from these annoying people, get food drink and take some Dramamine.

Text 28 May 12 notes Summer In Europe

I’ve decided to cover my summer vacation/schooling in the form of a blog! Everyday I plan to write/post something related to my day. Currently I am studying Abroad for a month in Salamanca Spain which includes journeys around Spain. After Spain I am taking a trip to Norway which will complete my European Summer.
